| Yi-Ching
Cheng
Born in Taipei, cellist Yi-Ching
Cheng studied with Dah-Oh Rau, Kuan-Ron
Chang, and Su-Chi Tseng before furthered
her study in France. In 1990, she graduated
with first prize and High Honors from Ecole
Normale de Musique de Paris. Later, in 1994,
she graduated from Conservatoire National
Superieur de Musique with a diploma in Chamber
Music and Cello Performance.
Ms. Cheng
performed at numerous venues in France,
to name a few, Salle Cortot、Sacre-Coeur、Theatre
des Champs-Elysees、Eglise de Chaillot…etc.
Her performance at Radio France is broadcasted
and archived by Radio France. In addition,
Ms. Cheng has devoted her time to promote
contemporary music bin premiering compositions
at the Art Lyrique and the Paris Conservatoire.
Aside from performance, Mr. Cheng served
on the faculty of Luce Music Conservatoire
from 1991to 1994.
After returning
to Taiwan in 1994, Ms. Cheng performed numerous
concerts as well as premiered contemporary
compositions. She was invited to perform
in Philippines and Korea in 1996 and 2002
respectively, by the Asian Composers Forum.
She served as the former Associate Principal
of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra and National
Symphony Orchestra. She is currently assistant
professor at the Taipei Normal College,
Taipei National University of the Arts and
Chinese Culture University.
