TNUA
The
National Institute of the Arts was founded
in 1982 as an institute of higher learning
for the arts, with the goal of creating
new, modern Chinese arts based on our cultural
heritage. The Institute was housed in Luchou,
Taipei County from 1985 until its move in
1991 to the permanent campus in Kuandu,
overlooking the Kuandu plain and Taipei
City. The buildings, designed by noted architect
C.Y. Lee, house state-of-the-art technology
in the theaters and workshop facilities,
while displaying a neo-Chinese classical
style. The Institute was renamed Taipei
National University of the Arts in 2001.
Programs of study leading to the Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree in Music, Fine Arts,
and Theater were offered in the first year,
with the program in Dance following the
next year. With a strong emphasis on the
humanities and rigorous training in traditional
Chinese as well as Western arts, the Institute
offers professional training with concentration
on both idea and technique, theory and practice.
In an environment that encourages free creativity
and research, the Institute strives toward
producing works of art in different styles
and forms----modern works that have not
lost touch with the essence of Chinese culture.
•Campus Description
The campus of the
Taipei National University of the Arts rests
upon the environmentally protected Kuandu
Plains, providing the University mountainous
surroundings and beautiful sceneries while
overlooking Taipei City. Its Neo-Chinese
classical style buildings tie together all
four schools throughout the campus. In this
quiet and serene hill, visitors encounter
numerous species of plants and natural beauty.
Further into the campus, we find an array
of restaurants, cafe, bookstores, and convenient
store to meet daily necessities. University
facilities rates among top quality in the
nation to name a few: student dormitories
(air-conditioned with private shower and
bath), sports ground, bike trail, library,
practice rooms, class rooms and the newly
completed Concert Hall, together with the
Theater, and the Dance Center, providing
an ultimate arts and cultural experience
for visitors. In order to provide our participants
the best performance experience, 2005 ShuanYin
International Music Festival has chosen
the newly completed Concert Hall to be the
venue of our Student Recitals. This Concert
Hall is designed specifically for classical
music performance with a capacity of 500
plus seats and an acoustical design, which
meets international standards. In an environment
such as the Taipei National University of
the Arts, we believe, this will undoubtedly
bring to our participants an unforgettable
learning experience.
